Frequently Asked Questions

What can you tell me about your patient safety precautions?
At Watts Family Dental, we want to ensure the health and well-being of our patients, hygienists, and staff. We are proud to say that we utilize modern infection-control practices and state-of-the-art sanitation techniques. We provide our employees with ongoing training and personal protective equipment.

How can I prevent dental health problems?
It’s easy to maintain healthy teeth and gums. As always, a practical oral healthcare plan for you and your whole family includes brushing your teeth three times a day, flossing regularly, eating a healthy diet and visiting your dentist for regular cleanings and checkups every six months.

When should I come in for a checkup?
The average adult should see their dentist for a check-up every six months. When you visit our office, we will make sure to discuss a brushing and flossing routine that keeps your smile healthy between visits. We will also send you a reminder postcard at an interval that best suits your needs.

How can I prevent tooth decay in my children?
Children learn by example. So, set a good oral care example for your child by brushing and flossing regularly. Provide healthy foods and snacks at mealtime. Schedule a regular dental check-up visit for yourself and your child together.

What can you tell me about teeth whitening?
Whitening improves the brightness and whiteness of your smile. In cosmetic dentistry, whitening (or bleaching) treatments work to restore surface color to the teeth by removing stains and plaque. So any product that cleans your teeth (such as toothpaste) is considered a whitener. According to the FDA, the term “bleaching” is permitted only when the teeth are whitened beyond their natural color.
